Sparkle

Us girls, we need sparkle!

~ Campbell Brandt

We need air
and water and
shelter.

We need clothes
and nourishing
food.

But do we really
need sparkle?

Sunlight dancing
on water

Stars twinkling
in the sky

Sparkly brooches

Chandeliers

Sugar sprinkles

Glitter

Yes.

I believe Campbell is
on to something : )

Sparkle is wonderful
any time of the year, but
here in the Northern
Hemisphere, where
the days are long and
darkness settles in
early, it is especially
welcome.

For my seven year-old
cousin Campbell, known
affectionately by family
and friends as Soup, the
days since her diagnosis
with a rare and deadly
form of Leukemia last
August have been a lot
like these winter days.

Long.

Very long.

Particularly when she's
been in the hospital or
confined to her home.

She craves sparkle.

This, my dear, dear
friends, is where
you
come in.

You can help me wave
a magic wand FULL of
sparkles and make Miss
Soup's wish come true.

{It involves singer Carrie
Underwood who is visiting
her city for a concert
in March.}

It won't cost you anything
but 56 seconds of time
to view her Youtube video
and another minute to
pass it on.

If enough people share
this with friends and
family, a connection
to Miz Underwood is
 bound to appear,
helping to make Soup's
wish come true!

Six degrees of
separation, right?

You can also leave
Soup a message
of encouragement in
my comment box, or
e-mail me and I'll
forward them to her.

Your words will be
my sparkle : )

And, as a wise little
girl who just happens
to be my cousin says,

Us girls need sparkle!

Here's to a very

sparkly

2013.

My dear friend,

I am just getting around to my favorite blogs this morning; I subbed in a class yesterday of SEVEN year olds and girl, WE GIRLS DO NEED SPARKLE!

I can see and HEAR that "Soup" is a little girl with a BIG heart, vision and courage. I will pass this on and is there anything else we can do? Since she loves sparkle and SO DO I, and since I am a creator of sparkling things, is there something I can send YOU to send to her that will have a ton of sparkle?

My dear friend!
Your sparkling cousin is a courageous girl, indeed! I am impressed by her spirit! In my heart there is an angel at her age (he was a son of a friend of mine) who was wise and brave as Soup is..., so I understand very well what this precious girl and her family are going through. Dear Soup, you truly are an inspiration to all of us. You have been accomplishing more things in your life than most will accomplish in their entire lives.Your bravery, courage and grace are teaching us that the true blessings in life are the simple things. Keep on going and never give up! We are all proud of you!
The least I can do to help you, Suzanne, wave your magic wand and make Soup's wish come true is to share this charming video. Write to me, please, if you think there is more I can do. Thank you!
