Mother, May and I

Hello!

I just returned from my
annual mom-n-daughter
long weekend adventure,
a birthday gift given to
me each year from my
sweet mama since my
own baby girl was
one year old.

It's a present that we
have both savored for
16 years.

We have visited many
interesting, fun and
memorable places in
the US and Canada
over the years, but it's
not the places
that stand out in my
thoughts....

No, when I shake the
snow globe of my
memories, these are
the flakes that swirl
and dance and finally,
alight softly in my mind:

laughter

lingering conversations ~
over coffee, tea, wine

getting lost, at least once,
but still enjoying the view

poking around vintage shops

sharing plans and dreams

did I mention laughter?

There is always a Thelma and Louise moment!
The only thing I don't
like about our getaways?

Saying goodbye.

Because even in three
short days, I grow used
to having one of my best
friends in all the world ~
my mom ~ in my day to
day life, instead of
across the country.

A precious gift,
these times.

We met some very
inspiring people on our
adventure and I will be
writing more about that,
soon.

In the meantime, as I
navigate re-entry to
my real life and an extra
busy week ahead, I
send you Happy May
Day wishes with these
 flowers from our very
special trip.

{Wish I could send
you the fragrance that
went along with them....!}

xx
Suzanne

PS:  Can you guess
where we were?

Wonderful!
My mother and I have such a great time when we take little trips but we don't devote special times to it and therefore don't do it enough. I love your ritual, will have to incorporate into my life. I cannot guess where you were but would love to know.

I also have a giveaway going on :)

What a lovely gift. It really is the time with those we love that matters. The older I get, the more I crave time with my own mother.
Your mother is beautiful...you two look alike. and that's a lovely gift too. :)

Can't wait to hear where you were...

Happy May Day! This is my favorite day of the year, I hope you enjoy it.

I'm not good at guessing locations since I rarely travel anywhere, but I do love your photos today. Especially the pretty flowers.

There is nothing quite like the mother daughter relationship to make you realise that the simple things are the best, spending time with your mother is up there at the top, and the older you become the more precious it seems. Two beautiful ladies having a wonderful time.

Gotta tell you that I love the title.....you may be a year older, but you get better and better, Suzanne!

I, too, will guess that with all the roses and poppies you and your beautiful mom were in sunny and temperate California.

Honey Bee and Zee are a wonderful good morning and welcome to the day surprise, too.

Suzanne,

What a wonderful photograph of you and your sweet Mom. Your trip sounds like it was wonderful, packed full of fun and adventure. Those memories are important and I'm so glad you are enjoying every second. We will look forward to seeing some more photos and hearing WHERE you were! I can't guess, however you were no where near us.. still rainy and cold in the Pacific Northwest! :) Enjoy your day

Such a wonderful tradition, Suzanne! A beautiful picture of the two of you, as well...you are so lucky to have your beautiful Mom; I wish I still had mine ~ though I saw her almost every day, if I had things to do over, I would definitely have made more "just Mother and Daughter" time...bravo for you two!

What wonderful memories you have been able to create with your mom. You are so very blessed to have that precious time together.
Hmm, looks like California poppies. Maybe around Palm Springs?
Wherever it was, I'm sure it was time spent that you will cherish your entire life.

Suzanne,

What wonderful memories and special trips with your mom! I think this is such a wonderful tradition!

My mother and I have done many solo trips together and they are my most cherished, but I also love my time at home with her when no one is around and we are just relaxing, talking and reading. Oh mothers they are magical creatures that help make us the women we are.

Have a wonderful weekend, Elizabeth xoxo
