Before & After: The Big Picture

Happy Friday!

{My favorite day
of the week.....}

Can't believe that
it's February and time
for a new Before &
After challenge.

It has been such a
mild winter that it
seems like spring is
around the corner.

Missing my photography buddy, Becky.
Last January I took
a photography class
with a blogging friend
at a nearby art center.

It felt about as far from
 spring as you can get.
Cold, snow and

As in free-ZING.

But sunny.  There is
an inverse relationship
here to temperature
and the sun.  The colder
it is, the sunnier it is!

So if you like sunshine,
you've found gold : )

A lot of our homework
required us to get out
and about, which was
difficult when it was
below zero.  I'm not sure
I would have stepped
outside on those bitterly
cold days, had I not
 had the push from
that class.

The art center
My photography buddy
and her family moved
to the South in July.
I get a little nostalgic
when I drive by the art
center and remember our
fun class and the great
laughs {and pre-class
lunches} we shared.

To recapture the joy of
our weekly assignments,
I signed up for an on-line
class through Big Pictures
called Picture Winter,
taught by Tracey, one of the

I received 31 daily prompts
via e-mail from Tracey
during January, which I
squirreled away to use in
February, instead.

I am going to faithfully
follow these prompts {my
Before} and at the end
of the month, will share
some of my favorites with
you {my After}.

Perhaps we will both
picture winter in a
cold place in a whole
different light.

Of course, by then we will
be on the cusp of March.

Nearly at the finish line,
of winter.

Poor old winter, you get
such a bad rap....

Snow flurries began to
fall and they swirled around
people's legs like house cats.
It was magical,
this snow globe world.

Here's to finding
the magic.

It's been such fun watching you grow your photography skills, you are amazing! We're headed up to the chilly Northwest this weekend. Looking forward to the crisp, cold air as it's been humid and yuck here in Houston.
Happy Friday,

We have no snow or really any cold to speak of here in Phoenix right now but our light has been beautiful. Last night I just stared out at the beautiful setting sun and the still long shadows, gorgeous. Also, so many of our plants are flowering right now, love it.
I should haul my camera out there too - you've inspired me :)

My blogging began with photos to send to my fmily from my new home in Holland. In six years I've learned so much about photography and am inspired by other bloggers like you, Suzanne. You're showing us your challenge here and I like it. I want to see and learn more, good teacher! Thanks for taking me on your adventure. I love your photos, by the way. xo Jenny

I am so looking forward to seeing your photos. Your area has been fortunate to have a fairly mild winter so far but there is still all of will be interesting to see if there will be snowy changes in your photos. You always inspire us with interesting writing and photos so I am definitely looking forward to your "Before and After" post. XO

Hi Suzanne! Best of luck with your in-house photography class! I know we will be the lucky recipients of your lessons.

I received my Card Keyper and it is amazing! From the packaging in the cute muslin bag to the punch and ring, it is ingenious. You even thought to include a card with your Etsy address which came in handy this morning at Home Depot. It was the first time I pulled out my Keyper and the cashier went crazy! She wanted one, TODAY! So, since I had your card on my Keyper I wrote down your info. She was so excited and asked,"What woman doesn't need one of those?" I just had to tell you.

I can't wait to see what you do and good for you for keeping at it. Come on March, it is so blah here, no sun or snow.
Enjoy your weekend!!

I certainly wouldn't be able to Picture Winter in my corner of the world. Right now it is just drab and dreary and dirty from the rain and dust and wind we've had this past week. I've been inside in pajamas since Thursday afternoon. Drives my husband crazy. But makes me very, very happy. :) I don't know how I am gonna manage taking my son around to check out colleges. He wants to go to the States and we just live so very far away. Too much to think about. Have a great weekend. Tammy

Tulips and icicle photos - great contrast. And so like our winter so far. You and Becky took some great photos in your class and looked like so much fun. I have been searching for a class like that here and not found one. Will hop over and see your new class--wish I could take one with you!

Come to think of it, I don't believe I got any snow pictures in this year. And to think our first snowfall was on Halloween! Not that I'm complaining... A photo before and after sounds fun Suzanne, and so does an on-line photo class that will give you prompts (I need prods and prompts!) xo ~Lili

Since I live in Minnesota too, I have also been enjoying the winter! My prediction for the summer is hot and very dry. We'll see. I'm sorry your friend moved away, but keep on shooting those pics!

Can't believe that was just a year ago...seriously feels like 2 at least. Good times. Wish we could take a lightroom class together now. I'm in need of some instruction. LOVED my Privet and Holly creation I got in the mail. It's all fixed up and in my purse. Have a great weekend friend,

It sounds beautiful. It actually feels very spring-like here already...we'd had very little rain (and it doesn't snow) and lots of cool, sunny days too.

As you have seen we have had very little winter and spring is upon us. I have been weeding like a mad woman and trimming shrubs. I will not catch up but that is fine I must enjoy the beauty and not rush about so much. Your photos are gorgeous you know.

Oh dear - below zero??!! Not sure I would be as brave as you to venture out especially considering you can't wear gloves when fiddling with a camera!! Good luck with your assignments - looking good so far!

I confess somewhat guiltily to loving this warm winter. Not sure it's good for the planet, but it's very good for me! Sounds like a great way to spend your winter!

I loved the five years we lived in Minneapolis ... all that glorious sun. I didn't really care that it was below zero.
