{Monday} Moments: Tag Team

Recently I was tagged by
Tiffini, author of the blog
to answer a series of
questions about myself.

Normally, I would shy
away from a proposition
like that.

But here's the thing.  Tiff
is kind and friendly.  She
shares her hopes and fears
in the most unselfconscious
and generous way.

And it's good to share.

So here it goes.

The first part of the tag
is to list 11 fun facts
about myself.

1.  The Genius app on my i-pod
 {suggests music based on
what it perceives as your taste}
is very confused, as my music
collection ranges from Billy
Holiday to Lady Antebellum,
Green Day to Mercy Me.

2.  Since high school, I have
been five feet, ten inches tall.
Until last year, when I began
measuring in at a quarter inch
taller. {Pilates?  Yoga?  Hmm....}

3.  I get tears in my eyes when
I sing hymns at church or the
National Anthem at ball games.
{Am I alone here?}

4.  I cannot talk on the phone
with a friend for less than half an
hour, unless we are making plans
to meet.  Not possible.  My mom
or my out of town friends know
this and will schedule a phone
date with me on the calendar.

5.  I am half city mouse and
half country mouse.....the energy
of both places appeals to my spirit.

6.  I love to dance.
Weddings, fundraisers, black
tie events.....If there is a dance
floor, I'm there.

7.  I do not like roller coasters.
The last time I rode one was nearly
ten years ago in Las Vegas.
It was the type that goes upside
down and it was on top of a
hotel.  I was humoring my hubby
on his birthday.  Never again.
{Sorry, honey!}

8.  I fall asleep and wake to
the sound of the ocean or a
thunderstorm every night,
thanks to my sound machine
alarm clock.

9.  I am a sucker for actors with
English, Irish or Scottish
10.  I adore nice soap.  I find
beautiful Italian olive oil and
lavender bars at Homegoods and
TJ Maxx.  My little indulgence.

Still with me?
The second part of the tag
included questions created by
Tiffini.  I'll keep these brief....

Are you a hugger?  Oh, yeah : )

What is your favorite color?
Blue ~ any type ~ sky blue,
sea glass blue, cobalt....

Dream vacation?  Rent a little
cottage in Scotland for a month.
Read, drink wine, take long
walks.  Heaven.

What do you want to be when
you grow up?  I always wanted
to be a stay at home mom, so I'm
already in a happy place.  I also
wanted to be a writer and my
blog allows me to pretend.

Favorite indoor and outdoor activity?
Indoor:  cuddling with my family
and watching movies.  Outdoor:
walking or biking.

If you could change your name,
what would it be?  Mae, an
old-fashioned family name.

When you eat out, do you usually
order dessert?  Not as often as I
want to {which is nearly always!}

What is your favorite day of
the week?  Friday.

What was your favorite food as
a child?  Pancakes.

What is something you learned
in the last week?  Things to do
while visiting Vancouver, BC.

Gorgeous Vancouver
Do you have a nickname?
 I have the usual suspects
from childhood ~ Suzy and Sue,
as well as Tuti.  My teenagers
still call me Mommy, which
I love.

So there you have it.
My tag-team confessional.

My daughter visiting a school in Vancouver.

I am supposed to tag more
people to keep this game going,
but it's late Sunday night and
I've only been home a few hours
since Friday, when I left to visit
colleges with my daughter.
I'll start catching up with all
of you in the morning : )

Thank you, Tiff, for encouraging
me to share a bit more of myself.

And thanks to all of YOU, for
listening and for participating in
Monday Moments over the last
three months.  I've enjoyed our
chats at the water cooler and
hope you will leave a comment
or link up a post to this one,
sometime this week.

This will be the last in this series,
but I'm looking forward to sharing
other moments, on other days,
with you.....

Have a wonderful week!

PS:  Also, a HUGE
thank you for all the
very, very supportive words
regarding my new venture.
Made my homecoming
that much sweeter!
There is still time
to enter the giveaway,

You said something very interesting that just happens to be the subject of my next blog post; I had been thinking about it for a while! You'll see. GOOD TO KNOW THESE THINGS ABOUT YOU MY DEAR! I cry to at almost anything, and I mean ANYTHING, that moves me the right way! One of them is bagpipes! I do not have ONE DROP OF CELTIC BLOOD IN me, but when those things start wailing, SO DO I!

Have a great day, Anita

Loved this! What a great post to start my day. I must say as I kept scrolling down I was thinking we could be great friends:) We have so much in common, yes I am a gabber wtih my friends on the phone, ocean sounds (on my alarm)!, blues one of my two fave colors, adore and buy fine soaps ( a little fetish), petrified of roller coasters, town and country girl here too, and yes get very emotional at certain emotional songs (and throw in disney and hallmark commercials too)! Wonderful post!

I love it when you share things about yourself - you seem SO lovely.

I linked up one of my posts from my 30 for 30 series, where I've picked out 30 items and remixing them in 30 different outfits over 30 days!

oh Suzanne, thanks so much for sharing more about was a very FUN read. and you always have the neatest visuals with your writing. I smiled at the "Mae" one. Who knew? :-) :-) I have been waiting to see what else is going on behind the scenes with your entrepreneurial adventures with your mama. I say KUDOS and cheer...I know you wish GiGi could have been in on it too...but somehow when I type this, I truly believe she IS. She is a part of every thing you and your mom do. Her energy and influence has to be strong...sigh..I digress..Thanks for your Monday Water Cooler moments. I for one...enjoyed!!!! Hugs sent your way. Stay warm!!! xoxoxo

It's always nice to learn random facts about people, it makes them more real, more tangible!
Thank you for sharing today.
I know not everyone has had the pleasure of meeting you in person, like me, but it's nice to learn even more!
I can hear your voice as I read your words.
P.S. I'm loving your wavy hair in the 1st pic :)

Hope you had fun at the colleges!

I swear we are sisters separated at birth! I cry every Sunday in church with the music and don't even get me started on the tears during the National Anthem! So funny! I am a dancer too. My friends joke because I am the one at a restaurant during dinner, I am the one bouncing to the music! Irish accents... mmmmmm.... Now would rather be in Ireland than Scotland. I have been to both and Ireland is one of my most favorite places on earth! I would move there tomorrow!

What a great post! It is so fun to learn more about you!

michelle said...

These are so wonderful and I totally with you on the hymn and National Anthem, so tear up all the time and definitely a sucker for accents. :) It is so nice to get to know you a little better, thank you for sharing.

Suzanne, I loved reading about you!! I love that you're GROWING, that you love the name Mae (I was obsessed with naming a daughter just that after seeing it embroidered on the sweetest little girl's backpack at an airport once, but another girl was not to be) and I love that you are doing what you want to be when you grow up (mothering your kids!) You are a joy to know; thanks for sharing a bit more about yourself, lovely lady!

Lisa Scibilia said...

PS We rented a cottage on a lake in Ireland 5 years ago, and it was heavenly! At 4 o'clock we'd have some Dubliner's cheese and a glass of wine and look out on the water and the kids playing in in the yard. You MUST do your Scottish cottage one day soon! {we found it surprisingly affordable :)}

michele said...

you ARE a writer, not pretending.

and a FABULOUS one.

I loved reading about you, Suzanne. I feel such a kinship in so many ways (especially the British accent thing--swoon!). You're in an exciting time of life--the college thing. It's hard, but so much fun.

And the tears? Um, yes.

Gretchen said...

Suzanne, thank you for sharing more about you... loved it! And in the process realized we are a lot alike which was interesting to discover. :)
Loving your new venture being off the ground too and am heading over to check out your Etsy site next. Would you believe I started my site late August before Junk Bonanza, and had my first sale this week-end? You just started girl and your rocking Etsy! Congrats you are so deserving...
Hope your trip with Elizabeth was a blast and can't wait to hear about it and both of your thoughts...
Looking forward to March 1-3rd, so I can see you again....

Funny I have just come off the phone to someone from who had a lovely voice and an American accent. I could have listened to him all day. You sound just as wonderful as I thought you would be, all the best people cry at things, it shows your emotions are in tip top condition.

Ps I am a terrible chatterer on the phone too. xx

Delishhh said...

So fun to ready - funny thing is the phone conversations - i used to love talking on the phone but not anymore. . .i am a person that like to get on and off :)

Suzanne I loved reading this post and learning more about you. You are a girl after my own heart. We do share so much in common. I have always adored you and each time I read something new about you I adore you even more! This was so much fun to read. It looks like you and your daughter had a fun time in Vancouver...that's a big decision! Loved reading this post!

Beth said...

I really enjoyed reading this and learning more about you. It was fascinating but also kind of familiar if that makes sense?
I also have to say that I love your card keeper on etsy. It's the perfect solution as the card wallets just get stuffed with so many cards that it's tricky to pull out of the plastic. (I'm actually reading this in bed but will go back and get one when I have my purse handy).

What a great post and a great way to share! I hope all is going well with the launch of your new product!

I LOVE this! :) As for #3: Definitely teary-eyed songs. You are not alone. Of course, I also get teary when: I thank a veteran or someone currently serving; I watch my kids, unbeknownst to them, and they're laughing or just enjoying each other; when I read certain poems or watch certain movies. Yes, I'm a crier. ;)
#5: I'd say I'm 1/4 city mouse and 3/4 country mouse. ;)
#s 6 & 7: I am NOT a dancer (unless no one is watching!) but I DO dislike roller coasters.
#9: Love a good accent!

I love getting to know you better! We have something in common: growing taller! I have been just shy of 5'2" since I was about 12; I am now right at 5'3". I noticed that change after the birth of my 2nd daughter 2 years ago. The nurses just said "hmmm... interesting." Don't know how to account for it, but at least I'm not the only one.

I'm a little late linking up to Monday Moments, but as this is the last one, I thought I would jump in. Thanks for the opportunity; I've really enjoyed it!

Always a joy to learn more about a friend you adore!! :)

Fridays are also my favorite day of the week. Yes, I cry at church hymns, commercials....I think I'm triggered by music.

Love that yoga and pilates are giving you that extra half inch. Wish I could get 2 or 3!

Big hugs...happy day!
xoxo Elizabeth

Suzanne- I think we are similar in lots of ways. I too am obsessed with good soap. Maybe that's because I'm a fragrance junky. I really like the format of your blog, and the fact that you like words. And no, you aren't pretending to write, you ARE A WRITER! So keep on-- look at all the friends you have!

5' 10"....who knew.....Seeing your pictures before I would have never guessed. Love that you are all over the place with music...I am so like that. LOVE music but I can't carry a tune in a bucket as they say....
