Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are.
Let me learn from you, love you, bless you before you depart.
Let me not pass you by in quest of some rare and perfect tomorrow.
Let me hold you while I may, for it may not always be so.
One day I shall dig my nails into the earth, or bury my face
into the pillow, or stretch myself taut, or raise my hands to the
sky and want, more than all the world, your return.
~ Mary Jean Iron
My kids are on their spring break from school
and I want to relish my time with them.....
Normal days that all too soon, will be gone.
I won't be posting while they are off, but I
may be writing and I may be able to sneak
in a visit to see those of you who write blogs.
But, I may not.
I want to be present for long walks
and long talks; snuggling in to watch movies or
play board games; for pushing up our sleeves
to create in the kitchen or kicking back
to read books.....for living on their time,
not mine.
Normal things and normal days that all
too soon I know that I will be longing for.
So, look for me next week.
And until then, embrace your normal
days.....for they are far sweeter than
any of us can really know,
while we are living them.
xx
Suzanne

Now that is a plan dearest. My spring break starts on Monday and I want to take that time to snuggle with Ruben, read with him, read my poetry, write, draw and just chill. This time for YOU is so special and what a darling group you have! YOU ARE SO PRETTY, ALL 'A Y'ALL!!!!! BLESSINGS to you for a magnificent and memorable time, Anita

Good morning Suzanne dear,
You, and they, deserve this special time together. Yippee!

Oh that poem! It is the rare collection of words that has captured my heart. I had to roll it over my tongue twice.
It is a true gift to see the extraordinary in normal days. Treasure them.

Enjoy your precious days with your kids - time goes by so fast! I was walking home from the mall today in the bright sunshine, new sneakers on my feet, flowers in bloom and a coolish spring breeze gently blowing and I thought about savouring every bit of this gorgeous day. And then I read your blog! great minds! xo
Enjoy your days with you kids. Those regular days just go too darn fast...darn them!
What a great and filled with truth blog post. It's sad that more Mom's aren't raising their kid's with this attitude. One thing I've learned is that when teenagers want your time, its important to be available at a whim. Last night was one of those times for me when my daughter actually asked me to stay in her room to talk. So thankful I've changed, challenged myself to be present and when she is yearning for my presence to give it to her. Like you mention, my time and your time home with or kids is drawing nigh. It doesn't hardly seem possible that my Emily will already be a Senior, and is alteady looking at colleges. :( As parents we need to value our time God has privileged us with the care of our precious children. Enjoy your Spring break.

It goes all too quickly, so you're very wise to cherish the time. I still try to make myself totally available when Kate's home for a visit. Spring and summer breaks used to be my favorite times of the year.
Best,
Susan
I love the words...
