Never Say Never

Sasha is our last dog.
~ My dad

I'll never survive another
{Doberman} puppy.
~ My mom

Never say never.

Two-thirds angel....
One-third {mischievous} devil....

One-hundred percent love.

When you walk
with a puppy
on the beach
you are an
instant celebrity....

movie star

rock star

star athlete

May I pet her?

Yes, of course!

How old is she?

Thirteen weeks.

Is she a Doberman?

Yes, she is.

What's her name?

Kate.

Where did you
get her?

She's from here.

Are you going
to crop her ears?

No, never!

Proving that
you can
teach an old
dog new tricks,
Sasha was not
my parent's
last dog.

But they
will always
miss her.

Sasha taught
them to keep
their hearts open...

And that
love
never dies.

And so far
Mom is
surviving another
Dobie puppyhood...
Her hands have
the teething marks
to prove it!

Because puppyhood,
so fleeting,
so full of
joyful moments
is also
so
cherished....

....teeth marks
and all!

Love from
the Oregon Coast
and wet puppy kisses
from Kate.
xoxo

This is precious. that you so much for the photos and for sharing with us all!

We have a 4lb Yorkie who is totally high maintenance but I wouldn't take her any other way.

We found out the day we had her fixed (after her surgery) that our Miss Mollie had cysts on her ovaries and would surely have not survived had we not taken her in for her surgery. Our vet said the cysts would have eventually burst and she'd have been in pain but no sign of infection would have been noted until it was 'too late'.

We need to have all those pet-babies we love spayed and neutered!

Not sure why...but your post made me tear up at this early hour. Pets are God's precious gift to us all.

Love to you this day~and to Miss Kate!

There is something divine about animals....their character tells a silent story behind all that cuteness and unconditional love....there is something eternal about the lessons they teach us, non? But of course, we have to be still enough to listen....beautiful photos, stunning story dearest one! ENJOY THE REST OF THIS INCREDIBLE SUMMER! Anita

Ohhhh, she is too, too cute! And, I am so glad that they aren't going to crop her ears. Those ears are Pure Character!
This story scares me a little though- I just have to be honest about that- because, I have said over and over again that our dog, Junie, is our last dog. Scary! :)

Have a fun-filled weekend!

Well, I think everyone in Bloggyland knows that my heart has a special place for pups. The big kind. The rottweiler kind. Oh how I remember the puppyhood days filled with laughter, high energy and a bit of frustration as well. Once you have dog there's no forgetting him/her. I'm very happy for your parents as I know they are having a ball with their precious new Kate. This post totally made me smile this morning.

Happy Friday my dear!

Fun post and such cute pictures!
I don't know if I could survive another dog ... thoughts of "let's get the boys a dog for Christmas..." creep into my brain and I remember it was all fun until I was the one to do all the work! We always managed to get the most high maintenance/biggest/loudest/most shedding dogs in the world! :)

Loving the music on your blog -- it sounds familiar but I can't recall it. What is it?

Glad to be checking in again -- been on vacation -- and you know how that is!

Kate is a SUPER-MODEL! Truly a lovely girl! I grew up with a doberman and she was SO INCREDIBLY smart we had to spell certain words around her. One near Christmas time, we came home to a very happy girl. she had UNWRAPPED all of her presents!

Tis true, a puppy (and a full grown doggie too) always seems to capture everyone's attention when you're out and about with them. I'm so happy your parents are enjoying that precious little bundle of happiness, known as Kate! For now, we have made ourselves content to just enjoy OPDs (other people's dogs). Yep, we came up with that acronym too! Love all those pictures Suzanne, makes me just want to cuddle with that sweet thing! ~Lili

A home just isn't a home without an animal. It's tough when you lose the, but they are so worth it.

As a Husky mama, I have to know whose Husky that is in the last photo!

Dogs truly are man's best friend! Two loves of my life -- Toni (whom I had from the age of 2 until 17) and Scooter, a wire-haired fox terrier that, with a broken heart, I sent to a friend in Dallas when I came to Kuwait. I had him for 3 years and my friend for 12 before he died. I still keep framed pictures of them both. :) Such a lovely post and beautiful pictures. Best wishes, Tammy

I too said the very words your mother said and well...
we have a new addition, giving puppy kisses all the way.
Kate is one cute dobie, we lost our doberperson early this spring and he is dearly missed.
Love to Kate and tell her to keep her nose away from those coffee cups.
Happy puppydom to your folks.

my husband grew up with dobermans Holly, and funny story: the first time he invited me over, he failed to tell me this, so i get out of my car, and here comes my first encounter with a doberman, and she starts circling me, barking...I'm freaking out! and my husband's dad opened the door and actually laughed at the situation, but that's just because Molly wouldn't hurt a flea! she was the best dog!!! we couldn't find any around here, and that's when we found our sweet Bella.....

cute picts! and you are right about the celebrity thing - funny!!
