You may remember
when I wrote
about the crossing
of my parent's
young dog,
Sasha
over the
Rainbow Bridge
in the beginning
of May. (here)

| Sweet Sasha |
As they
worked through
their grief
and sifted
through photos
and memories
My mom
felt her heart
calling and
began to look
for Doberman
puppies in
their area...
just for fun...
just to remember
those puppy days.
IF they ever
got another puppy,
they wanted a
female....
A breeder, not
too far away....
11 Puppies Born on May 2nd!
There she was.
Lake Oswego, Oregon.
Doberman puppies.
One little girl available.
Born the same day
that Sasha died.
Well, you can
guess the rest!
They named her
Kate and she came
home on Saturday.
My kids cannot
wait until we visit
next month!
I wondered
how Kate
would adjust
from her rambunctious
world.....
To a quieter
life in
the country.....?
She howled
about coming in,
at first ~
But soon
found
she fit
right
in!
Kate and Dad
hit it off
from the
start...
start...
{They actually met within weeks of her birth.}
And Mom
has a serious
case of
puppy love,
too!
Welcome to
our dog-loving,
crazy family,
little Kate!
You have big paws to fill.
I think dogs are the most amazing creatures;
they give unconditional love.
For me they are the role model for being alive.

I wish Kate and her new family all the best. She does look cute. I am sure she will be just the tonic your mum and dad needed.
Oh dear............I have serious puppy-lust! Our son keeps asking when we are going to replace ours and I am almost there. I am sure Kate will be spoiled and fit right in with her new family. Looks like she already has........lucky dog. Much love XO
YAY! Your mom is too cute with her sweet new pup. Love the shot of Kate on the couch, just like Sasha. :)

she's beyond words ....

I'm sooo happy for them! I will tell you a similar little story. Almost four years ago I went to a little town and picked up Charlie Ross. I knew his name would be that, because it was my late best friend's father's name. And she was named after him. As I sat at that turkey farm where he was born, I asked her his birth date. It was my late best friend's birthday as well. I burst into tears. She had died in my arms just that summer. I knew it was meant to be.

My goodness, Kate is precious! The cycle of life-the same day...it is almost as if Sacha guided your parents to Kate. The picture of your mom with Kate is too cute! Wonderful picture. I think Kate is a very fortunate little puppy. There is a lot of love in that house!
totally meant to be Suzanne.....
Thank you so much for visiting my blog. I hope you had a wonderful 4th holiday. I actually tried to comment on that post (it was a great post) but blogger wasn't allowing me. I kept getting an error message.
I know exactly how your Mother must feel. My Mother too, has a silky terrier that she's nuts about.
Kate is so adorable. I'm very sorry to read about Sasha. The photos are so sweet.
Mercy me, that Kate is darling! The pic of her with your Mom is something serious.

Too wonderful. :-)
Of course I have to smile...isn't it funny how we become so attached to a certain breed? With us, it's Huskie's.
Your parents with their new baby are absolutely adorable. Nothing like the unconditional love of a pet!
Love ya!
Anne
I'm SO happy for your entire family! That is going to be one very spoiled and much loved little Dobie!
Congrats, she is adorable!
Kat :)
How absolutely adorable Kate is! This is the perfect post for me at this time. Our Beau, Labrador Extraordinaire, is almost 16. He is getting very old. I am beyond thankful that he is still here, this summer, as our children and grandbabies come and spend a few weeks with him, most likely the last time.
This sweet Kate story has given me hope that there will be another little darling that will capture my heart. thanks, friend.xo
So Adorable!! Precious and so loving, our dear four legged friends!

Good morning my dear!
Oh my, so sweet! She is so beautiful!
Yes, dogs are wonderful creatures and we love them so much even if sometimes (like this morning!!!) they make such a mess in the garden!! I had to clean all around for a whole hour this morning before going to work, can you believe that???!! ;-)
I wish your parents many many happy years with Kate!
You got it right, the pics you saw in my post are those of the before and after renovation of my grandparents home. The bricks weren't added, we just discovered them under layers of concrete!!
Have a good day,
Fra
Suzanne dearest, this is a wonderful post....dogs are my favorite and I so wish I had one. I would love a westie, cairn or a fox terrier, but my all time favorite is a big, chunky YELLOW LAB!!!!! Hey, come on over for some tea? Let me know when! Anita
OK...not sure why, but tears in my eyes. I am so happy that your mom has found Kate! Big paws indeed to fill....but I have no doubt she'll leave her own pawprint on your mother's heart! We need a dog....and I just haven't made the leap yet. This makes me want to! xoxo, Elizabeth

Yes, I remember your post about Sasha a tissue in hand necessary. Your tribute was so lovely and it is clear Kate couldn't go to a better home. Her date of birth; it was meant to be.
Kate is a lucky canine companion.

What a lucky girl. I'm missing my senior dog Jimmy that passed away almost a year ago.
Kate is adorable. It looks like she has found a happy home. I wanted to thank you for following my blogs and leaving such nice comments. I enjoyed browsing through your blog and look forward to future posts as we get acquainted. Connie
she is so sweet. i think it's perfect that she was born the same day their other dog died. meant to be. have fun with her.
Ohh she is really adorable! I'm happy for your parents: a dog can give a lot of love, but also your mom and dad need to love with all their heart another little puppy!
Hugs!
Mara
Oh my word... too stinkin' cute! And those are some big paws!
Nothing heals a broken heart over losing a dog like getting a new puppy to love!!! We think we could never love another dog the way we loved that one (and wonder, would we even want to? to know we would one day feel that same loss?) and the answer is YES. Because I have gone through it, I know it is true. I would never have these amazing creatures in my life, had my previous dogs not passed away... and my love for them is now a sweet memory as I embrace my new sweet friends. And a rambunctious puppy certainly takes ones mind off of sorrow!!! To busy to grieve ~ oh how we forget how much work a puppy is! But well worth it. Wonderful love in a furry package. I am so happy for your mom and dad and their new baby!!!
~ Violet
So cute! I can't wait until we can find our perfect puppy!!!
Dogs are truly the best! Love the the significance of their shared date...beautiful!!!
Welcome to Kate. How cute! Have a great day.
Hi Suzanne! I'm finding so many connections here! Love little Kate, and love that she was born the day sweet Sasha crossed the bridge... it was meant to be! Little Kate looks a lot like our pound pup Ella!
We used to live in Portland, before Dallas, and now New Hampshire, and would visit Naomi's Lamp shop often! Have you been there?!
We adore Maine, and Kennebunkport and visit at least once a month!
My maiden name is "Wall"!
lots and lots of connections!
nice to meet you!
joan
What a beautiful, heart wrenching story...A lovely little dog. Those feet, those lips...
She is adorable. When we lost our Sidney I waited 2 months before getting another. NEVER AGAIN!! I swear the second I put my Fergie down I'm off to get a puppy. It completely heals the heart. Seriously it is salve for the soul. Great story:)
