For Sasha
My dad's best girl
My girl's best friend
Our family's favorite clown
Our Sasha
Treasured Friend ~ Author Unknown
Palm Springs 2009
I lost a treasured friend today
The little dog who used to lay
Her gentle head upon my knee
And shared her silent thoughts with me.
With her teddy
She’ll come no longer to my call
Retrieve no more her favourite ball
A voice far greater than my own
Has called her to his golden throne.
Sasha and Gracie 2004
Summer 2004
Although my eyes are filled with tears
I thank him for the happy years
He let her spend down here with me
And for her love and loyalty.
Christmas 2004
When it is time for me to go
And join her there, this much I know
I shall not fear the transient dark
For she will greet me with a bark.

"Our Girl"
April 2004 ~ May 2010
It is a sad day at our house today.
My daughter is home from school.
The message I left on the
attendance line when asked
to explain the illness
was simply
"heartsick."
My parents believe that
Sasha died of a heart attack.
She just turned six years old.
I know those of you who
have shared your lives with
pets know that they
will cross the Rainbow Bridge
someday.....
But it is incredibly difficult
to see them go.
Hug your favorite pet today
and perhaps give them
that extra treat
for Sasha {who would eat anything!}
a truly treasured friend.

Oh my comment got eaten up....I will come back in a few. I am so sorry to hear about this dear friend and neighbor; I will be back after the children leave for art. Fondly, Anita
Ooohhh! I am heartbroken for you and your family! Your words are so dear and sweet. By the end of your post I loved your precious friend!
I will say a little prayer for all of you!
I will be thinking of you today!
Cathy
So sorry for your loss. I had to put my beloved Ruby down this past winter. So heartbreaking ... Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers
Dad sobbed as he read your lovely blog. He says he is going to focus on all of the good things; the happy family times, the quiet moments with her in his office in front to the fire, running to get the paper and mail, sitting with her head on his lap or arm, and on and on. God doesn't give you more pain than you can deal with, but this morning it sure hurts a lot. It's hard to see a big old man cry.
What a beautiful tribute to your sweet Sasha. My heart goes out to your family. We too know the pain and still have an empty spot for our beloved Bo that passed 2 years ago. ~Lili
My tears are flowing as I read your post today. We lost our Martha 3 years ago and the pain we still feel is as if it were yesterday. My heart goes out to you - Sasha was as big a part of your family as Martha was ours and it truly is heartbreaking when they go. My prayers go out to you and I hope all the treasured memories will somehow help ease the pain you're all feeling today. Lisa xx
I just found your blog today. I am so deeply sorry for your loss. Heartsick is a most apt word. I know many of my beloved pet companions have also crossed that bridge. I have created memorial gardens in their memory. Just walking out to my garden, and seeing the little dog-shaped custom-made sign gives me peace. Makes me relive those special memories of them there in my garden.

My eyes are teary with you. It is one thing to lose a companion naturally from old age, but this is a sudden loss...I can imagine your heartache. I will hold my bella bleu closer than usual today and whisper prayers for you and your family. I'm so sorry for this loss dear friend. ((hugs)) ox
For some reason I have been having a hard time leaving you comments for the past few days.
My heart absolutely aches for you and your family. Our pooch Max is like a child to us and we can't even talk about what will happen when he leaves us.
Sending you a big cyber hug today!

Oh Suzanne, I am saddened to hear of Sasha's passing. Losing a pet is always so difficult. We form such deep bonds with them. Sending you hugs and thoughts of comfort today. I will tell all my pets how much I love them today. Take care.
Anne
Oh dear, my heart is with you. I know losing a pet is losing a part of the family.
A big hug to you

I am in tears. It's NEVER easy to lose a member of the family. Cried for a month when our rottie passed away 2 summers ago. Sending huge hugs your way in hopes that it will speed the healing of the hole in your heart.

Seeing all those pictures of her make me start crying all over again. I'm still in a state of disbelief that this has happened. It was so sudden and unexpected.
She was our girl.
Rest in peace, Sasha. We love you more than even those eloquent words can describe.
Ohhhhhhhh I'm SO SORRY for your loss - my eyes filled with tears & rolling down my cheeks as my three little 'friends' lay by my feet. I WILL hug them - and I DO know the heartache you're feeling all too well. What a beautiful tribute to your sweet Sasha - and no I don't won't say REST IN PEACE because I KNOW she's 'rippin'-it-up' on the other side!
Sending love and hugs your way -
Darn!
I just did a double take when I read this post! Our beloved Chloe died suddenly one month ago at the young age of 6! I so know what you are going through and the heartache that will linger for a while. We are still coping here. Wishing you love and peace.
xoxo,
Kim
Oh, no, I just got choked up reading your post. Poor Sasha, and poor you. I had to put my 4 year-old yellow lab to sleep about 4 years ago and it was devastating. Prayers with you and your family, losing a pet is so difficult. I will give the kitties an extra kiss tonight for Sasha.
What beautiful photos you have to remember your sweet Sasha. Our pets are truly members of our family and Sasha will be sorely missed. Sending you thoughts of comfort!
We will always remember her in our hearts and minds. We know that she has crossed over the rainbow and watches over us.
I am so very sorry my friend. We have been there - it truly is heartbreaking. Please know that I am thinking of you, and wishing you peace in your heart, and the hearts of your family.
much love,
xx
Ahhhh sweet one ...sending you lots of love today..I know how sad it is and how your sweet Sasha will be so missed. Heartsick is the perfect words for your loss.We loss our Rosie just before Christmas...hugs xoxo
Just checking in to see you again....how are you doing? I love this song playing....beauty and love will forever outlast the tears....
I just left a comment about Sasha on your previous post. My heart is so very heavy for you tonight. I have never had a dog but I've seen how they are loved and treasured by their owners and Sasha certainly had the best family ever!! God Bless you all as you deal with this sudden loss :(
Love you,
Terri
Thank you Tadpole for your kind words. Our hearts
are aching tonight, but it helps to hear that you
will remember Sasha. She really did love you.
Oh so sorry to hear about Sasha. So sad.
Blessings to you!
Elizabeth
My eyes have filled with tears forgive misspelled words and poor grammar. Our canine companions bring us such joy; they somehow complete our lives filling in those little gaps and offering us comic relief. Understanding us when we do not understand ourselves.
I do not profess to feel the depth of your pain and loss only an idea. We lost one of Dachshunds (Lilly)suddenly in December and although we have 2 others our home isn't the same.
Heartsick is the perfect description for your loss for which I am so sorry.
... she's beautiful ....the name fit her well ...
this too, shall pass dear friend ...
I always feel for the kids.
the flower is actually called ... "snow in summer"
I was trying to be funny
Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about Sasha. She was such a good dog. Having lost a pet before, too, I know how heartbreaking this experience is. Keep thinking of that Rainbow Bridge, where she's frolicking with Winnie and making new friends. I love all the pictures of Sasha with your family. After seeing them, I had to find this sweet photo I took of Ben and Sasha both asleep on your parents' couch. Enjoy the wonderful memories you have ... XOXOXO
Oh I am SO sorry for you and your family and to have something like this happen so suddenly :o(...we lost our Golden, Sassy over 15 years ago...she suddenly stopped eating. The vet thought she had just swallowed a sock or something, so she went in for exploratory surgery and the vet found cancer. We lost her at only 5 years old. I do believe that all dogs go to Heaven, and we will see these beautiful creatures again one day! God bless you!
Although I never knew Sasha tears fill my eyes for you and your family! For those of us who live with, love, and cherish our pets it is always heartbreaking when one of them dies, and even more so when they are taken too soon! I had a friend once tell me that he cried harder when he lost his beloved Border Collie then when he lost his brother. He went on to say "I didn't sleep with my brother every night, but I did with my dog!" Animals are truly the only non judgmental "people" in our lives! My thoughts are with you during this very difficult time!
Kat
Sending a huge hug your way my sincere sympathy to you and your family over having to say goodbye to a beloved furry one.
I am so sorry that you have lost your beautiful Sasha. We went through this loss last summer and our son still says everytime he comes home "where is our Faldo?". They are such beautiful companions and your whole family will feel the loss for some time. Sending a big hug your way today....I know. XO
So, so sorry at your loss! Hugging you long distance!
I'm visiting from Low Tide High Style to congratulate you on the book!
But I'm so sorry to hear about Sasha. A dog's love and devotion are so special - I'm sure you all are missing her terribly. The 'Over the Rainbow' song is very sweet...
I am so sorry for your loss...they really do become like our children, don't they? Each one takes a little piece of our hearts with them when they leave, but we are so much better having loved them.
You are in my prayers.
All the best,
Anne
I found you today, and I want to leave a note to let you know how sorry I am for what you are going through. Pets make our lives whole, and things feel incredibly empty when they leave us.
Sincerely,
Connie
I've just run into your blog and I am so sorry for your lovely Sasha. I will surely hug my little dog and cats today and be thinking about Sasha. Sincerely yours, Francesca
Oh, I'm so sorry for the loss of your sweet friend...
You'll be in my thoughts today.
What a lovely tribute to Sasha. Your post brought tears to my eyes and a lump to my throat. For those of us who truly love and cherish our pets, it is heartbreaking and leaves such a feeling of loss when one of our pets die and even more so when it happens unexpectedly. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Warmest regards,
Tracy
Oh, I'm so sorry! It is truly heartbreaking to loose a loving fur baby.
My heart goes out to you and your family. Dogs are such a huge part of our family and our children grow up with them so it's devastating for them when a dog dies! My daughter's friends dog died tonight and my daughter is in tears for her friend. I still think of my dog Dillon who died almost 10 years ago - he was so special! I'm going to give Woody an extra fuss tonight!
Thinking of you x
Nothing can ever fill the gaping hole left by a loved pet. Dogs always light up the room and a house never feels the same once they are gone. Everyday is a blessing when you have our dog by your side. I'm so sorry for you and your family to have lost your best friend.
I am so sorry for your loss and my heart goes out to you and your family. Pets become such a huge part of our families and I know the loss is tremendous.
Hugs,
Sherry
I'm so very sorry for the loss of your furbaby. For many of us, pets are family, not animals. I cry with you for your loss, and rejoice that Sasha is in the words of Laura Ingalls, at the Happy Hunting Grounds. Isn't it a soul-soothing blessing to know that you will see her again some day? Hugs to you, and your family.
What a beautiful tribute to your Sasha...my heart truly aches for you.

What a beautiful girl. I am so sorry for your loss, however your words are kind and beautiful and have touched my heart as I am sure they did hers.
This is my first visit to your blog...I know very well the "heartsickness" you talk about and am so very sorry for your loss. They are such a blessing to our hearts, and when they leave us, that's where the ache settles. Her sweet spirit will never leave you though and will always be there...in your heart, always!
Praying comfort for you and your family...
xo Jessica
