Going, going, gone!

When it comes to
I am the luckiest girl
on two feet.

My mom and I are best friends
and like all good buddies,
we love traveling

{Most} every year
for 14 years,
my mom has given me
an amazing gift.

Not one that I can hold
in my hands,
but rather, one that I can
hold in my heart
long after my big day
has come and gone....

Each year we think of a
place that we'd like to visit.
Then, like a fairy godmother,
she makes it happen.

We live 1400 miles apart
{she in Washington State,
me in the Midwest}
so it takes a bit of magic
to pull the whole thing off.

Especially because we are
both leaving our own households
to run on auto-pilot for a while.
This was trickier when my children
were younger and we weren't
near family,
but my in-laws flew to the rescue!
{To help while my understanding husband was at work.}

Here are some of the
marvelous places we have visited.....

THE CITY of cities:  New York

The Rose City ~ Portland, Oregon

Charming Savannah, Georgia

This was a fun year!

A Spa in Minnesota ~ Saw 'lots of these
Santa Fe was a dream

Fell in love with the gates of Charleston

New Orleans was jazzy

                                          Victoria, BC....Now we're international

This was the Prior House, our B and B in Victoria

Our last getaway....Carmel, California

I couldn't take enough pictures of the flowers in Carmel!

Yes, I'm a lucky girl.
It's birthday trip time, again.
I'm leaving today.

Someone wants to know
where I've gone......

I'll be sending you some postcards.

Come visit this weekend!

See ya'll then.

{Hint hint!}

Wow! Stunning photographs. Especially the one of New York, sorry to be so ignorant but all that green - could that be central park? I live 12,000 miles away on the other side of the world and I would love to visit day.
I enjoyed my visit into your world - Thank you.

Oh... the poor puppy looking out the door for you. *sad face* My sister and I did a trip together to Santa Fe, rented a red mustang convertible, put the top down and laughed all week-end long! I love girly trips!!!

What a neat tradition you and your mom have~~much more valuable than a gift you unwrap and much more everlasting. I hope you have many more years of birthday trips like these :)

Em Le's in Carmel. I know that little restaurant very well. :o)
I'm peeking through the 'looking glass'
in anticipation of where this visit
took the two of you.

My Mom is my best friend and lives minutes from me and we spend tons of time together but your post makes me want to run over there right now and tell her how much I appreciate having her so near!!!
May this be the best trip yet!!!

How lovely that you have such a close relationship and can enjoy travelling together. I envy you - my mother is quite elderly and has a fear of flying so we've never had the chance to share what you do. : )
